ARTISTIC INTERESTS
Through performance, visual storytelling, and the interplay of the body and voice, Þórunn delves into themes of empathy, identity, and belonging, including the fluidity of queerness. Nature is a constant presence, whether as a central theme or subtly woven into their work. Þórunn’s artistic practice explores the intersection of the natural and artificiality, examining how these forces coexist and shape human experience.
Þórunn is particularly interested in questioning boundaries between the nature and the constructed, the self and other, performer and audience. There is an interest in approaching choreography as a way of thinking through the body.
Þórunn enjoys creating in spaces where dance can meet other forms – like sound, text, images, or scenography – and is curious about how those elements can as well shape or control the audience’s experience. Lately, they have been exploring the voice and sound as part of their practice, and is especially drawn to formats where performance lives in close relation to the audience.
